Johannesburg, South Africa
and 23 other major cities

We have identified 24 large cities in our division—three in each union— and are in the process of developing methods that we will apply to evangelize these cities. We had a half a day with all Union Presidents just to discuss our obligations and the need to evangelize large cities.

Johannesburg is made up of four major places: Soweto, Central Johannesburg, West Rand and East Rand, and the population of these is about 10 million. The City is largely secular, with only less than 40 thousand Adventists.

Some of the suggested plans are:
1. Establish an FM Radio program so that people driving can listen to our messages.
2. Build large churches in some of the large compounds.
3. Train pastors in city pastoring and increase the number of employed people who are doing evangelism.
4. Intensify church planting.
